We hope everyone is enjoying a happy and healthy Easter Monday today. If you’re unfortunate enough to find yourself working on this holiday, then you could probably do with a few laughs to brighten your day.
And we have the perfect funnyman who could really work a laugh out of any situation; Garry Shandling. While the name may not be immediately recognizable to everyone, you know the face and no doubt you’ve enjoyed this comedian’s work over the years. Shandling came on the comedy scene in the early 80s, rising to fame alongside other superstars as Jerry Seinfeld and David Letterman. He created and starred in his own highly-acclaimed 90s sitcom, The Larry Sanders Show and continued to be one of the most influential comedians around.
Sadly, Shadling died last week at the age of 66, and while we’ll miss hearing his new hilarious observations, we can take solace in the fact that he’s left behind hours of comedy for us to enjoy.
Here’s a classic gem of Shandling’s first of many appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson back in 1981, and an early indication of his massive talent that will be sorely missed.
